About Me

Maryam Nazari is a Manchester-based actor, filmmaker, and theatre-maker working across film and live performance. Her practice moves fluidly between performance and creation, with experience as an actor, writer, director, and producer.

With a strong background in theatre across a wide range of styles and genres, her work is grounded in the exploration of human experience both personal and social. She is drawn to the complexities of inner life: perception, psychological states, and the shifting relationship between how we experience the world and how we express it.

Her practice often begins from a simple human situation and gradually reveals the layers beneath it where meaning becomes unstable, communication fractures, and internal realities begin to reshape external ones. She is particularly interested in the tension between what is felt and what can be articulated, and how this gap influences behaviour, relationships, and narrative form.

Her short film One Day was nominated at the LA Independent Women Film Awards (Best Script), and she is currently part of the programming panel for the Horizons Film Festival 2026 at HOME, Manchester.
